Tis Not The Season To Be Frosty

While most of India was boiling in summer heat, I was high up in the mountains, watching snowflakes melt on my gloves. Yes—I saw snow in July at Zingzingbar!

Zingzingbar is a remote stop on the Manali–Leh highway, known more for its altitude than for luxury. But for me, it became the highlight of my summer. As we climbed higher, the air got thinner, the winds turned colder, and suddenly, there it was—snow, even in peak summer. Everything around looked like a frozen dream.

We stepped out to play in the snow—laughing, clicking pictures, even building a tiny snowman. But high-altitude adventures come with their own twist. One person in our group started feeling dizzy and then—they threw up. Classic case of altitude sickness. 😬 It was a reminder that while the views were magical, we were nearly 14,000 feet above sea level. Oxygen is thin, and your body knows it.

🌨️ A Trip I Won’t Forget

This wasn’t just a cool escape—it was a full-on experience. Between snowball fights and the sudden nausea, I realized that travel isn’t always pretty, but it’s always worth it.

🧳 Quick Tips If You Go:

  • Stay hydrated and ascend slowly—altitude sickness is real.
  • Dress warm, even in July.
  • Don’t litter—Zingzingbar is too pure for plastic.
  • Be kind to your body; not everyone can handle 14,000 ft on day one.

Even with the puking and freezing fingers, I’d do it all again. Because sometimes, the best memories are the messy ones.

And hey, how many people can say they played in snow in the middle of an Indian summer? 😉
